Renowned figure in the music industry, Sam Cutler, who once served as the tour manager for iconic bands like The Rolling Stones and Grateful Dead, has passed away in Brisbane at the age of 80.

His children, Bodhi and Chesley, confirmed his peaceful passing on Tuesday through a Facebook statement. They expressed gratitude towards the healthcare professionals from various hospitals who provided care to their father since he was diagnosed with cancer almost a decade ago.

Throughout his life, Sam crossed paths with numerous people from all over the world, and together, they created beautiful memories that truly captured the essence of who he was. In the afterlife, he wished for his friends to continue making cherished memories with others and share them in his memory.

As per his wishes, Sam's ashes will be scattered at the Chenrezig Institute, within the foundations of a new Buddhist temple expected to be finished in 2025.

The family requested privacy during this time of mourning and appreciated the supportive messages they received. They plan to arrange "celebrations of life" soon and will share funeral details with those close to him. Additionally, they have set up an email address (thankyousamcutler@gmail.com) where people can share their memories of Sam.

Born in England, Sam Cutler toured with The Rolling Stones during their infamous 1969 tour, which culminated in the tragic Altamont Free Concert where an 18-year-old lost his life. He then continued to work closely with the Grateful Dead before eventually settling in Australia in the late '90s to lead a quieter life.

In 2006, he collaborated with Melbourne outfit Black Cab, featuring on their track "Valiant," where he recounted his time with Grateful Dead. Moreover, he published a book in 2008, titled "You Can't Always Get What You Want," which offers an exhilarating, behind-the-scenes rock memoir, chronicling his vast experiences.

In a recent interview, Sam expressed that his career as a tour manager spanned only around ten to fifteen years before he grew tired of it. After working with the Grateful Dead, he sought new directions, realizing he no longer desired to facilitate other people's fantasies. Last year, he even toured the east coast as an MC with Australian alt-folk singer-songwriter Jackie Marshall.
